The final level of Jimmy Carrane’s Art of Slow Comedy program is divided into two parts. In the first part, you’ll learn practical tools to help you create and sustain entertaining long forms. You will discover how to use “a suggestion” to inspire your scene work, the importance of varying your energies and different types of scenes throughout a show, as well as how to edit scenes effectively and how to do walk-ons that support the scene.
In the second half of the class, Jimmy will choose a form that plays to the strength of the group and then the ensemble will rehearse to prepare for a final performance in front of friends and family on the last day of class. The final performance typically runs between 30 to 45 minutes.
In this advanced level class you will work on:
- How to make the suggestion work for your personality
- Different techniques to add variety easily to any long form
- Trusting your instincts in editing
- Doing walk-ons that support vs. highjacking the scene
- Being part of ensemble to bring out your best
